Jara Studio was founded by artist couple Alon Gil and Batya Margalit, graduates of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
The studio is located at the ecological village Clil in the Western Galilee and it houses clay, glass and metal creations.
The surrounding environment and lifestyle are a source of inspiration to the creative process.
Alon – ceramics artist, maker of practical and artistic items. He designs and creates projects from stone and clay. The works are then burned in a gas oven and the glaze is made on-site. This results in many unique shades of color in high quality. Alon also has his own commercial line of tiles called Ooka.
Batya – glass artist, graduate of Bezalel’s jewelry department. Batya creates glass artworks with copper, gold and minerals using the glass fusing technique. The burning process in the gas oven gives the glass unique texture and colors. Her works were shown in exhibitions in Israel and overseas
The studio has many beautiful pieces and one-of-a-kind artwork on display. Items can also be designed and adapted to customer requests.
The studio welcomes guests and offers meetings with the artists to talk about art, creation, life at Clil, clay and glass workshops for kids and adults and also a variety of artworks for sale, crafted by the artists using fire and other unique technologies.
Visits are suitable for families and groups.
The studio also offers weekly lessons to those interested in a deeper understanding of materials and creative processes.
