Galileat, a company owned and run by Paul Nirens, offers cooking and wild green foraging workshops, market tours and culinary adventures in the Galilee, with Paul Nirens and his Jewish, Druze and Arab colleagues.
Come visit the home of your hosts, get to know them and hear about their customs, cook a meal with them in the family kitchen and eat it together.
Paul says: “I have lived in the rural Galilee region for almost 30 years. In that time, I have developed good relationships with many people from the region. These relationships allow me to offer true local-cultural experiences based on food. If it has to do with Galilean culinary experience, I know all about it and would be happy to share it with you”.
Galileat has received a certificate of excellence for three years in a row.
The company offers different types of activities, from a whole day to a quick meal.
As for kosher food, one of our hosts has a kosher kitchen, rabbinate supervised.
In addition, because the use of grain and fresh vegetables is so prominent in the Arab kitchen, vegetarians can enjoy the food just as much as meet lovers.
Western Galilee Now is a registered non-profit grassroots organization (NGO) promoting awareness and appreciation for the region’s boutique wines, beers, food and produce, along with its cultural diversity, its historic traditions and the area’s scenic routes nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea acting as a Chamber of Commerce to boutique tourism operators in the region.
We expose the visitors to the unique heritage and hospitality through workshops, culinary events, art, music, guides tours, festivals and also through our Tourist Information Center in Akko, owned by JNF USA which we were chosen to operate since Jan. 2016.
Our vision is to develop local and foreign tourism based on close cooperation between all the interested parties in the region.
